“A Gentle End”
“A Gentle End” taken on Oak Island, North Carolina. The photograph was lost in a batch of more beach sunsets. Subsequently, I had to check to see if I took it. I liked the “S” curve in the landscape and didn’t think that I was shooting away from the sunset. Above all, I consider this one of my best photographs.
“My Blue Heaven”
“My Blue Heaven” taken on the beach in Oak Island, North Carolina. I had my camera out to take some pictures of my kids playing in the sand. Ordinarily, I only shoot sunsets at the beach. The sky’s color reflecting off the water was amazing. I took about five or six quick shots and went back to the kids. This photo was the best of the bunch. It captures the joy and hope I feel when I am on the beach.
“Red Mirror” This photo taken from the bridge in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina, looking across Bogue Sound toward Morehead City. It was a composite of five long exposure images compiled into a single picture. Above all, I like the time ripples in the foreground as a result of the small waves combined during the long exposure.
“A Long Way Across”
“A Long Way Across” is one of the most personal impactful photos that I have captured. Taken from the river walk in Fort Fisher, North Carolina. The view is marsh grass with the Cape Fear River in the distance. When I saw this image, I thought of the painting “Christina’s World” by Andrew Wyeth. The idea of being able to envision the distance between where you are and where you need to be is what I attempted to capture within this picture.
